As he works to convince her who he is, Harry also has to tangle with Mr. Carraway, "the old man from beyond", whose mission is to drag Houdini back to where he belongs.
You know, I kinda like the sound of this.

What I want to know is why does Bess get to be reincarnated, while poor Harry has to ‘escape’ from the ‘other side’ and then avoid capture by an old man “whose sole mission is to drag Houdini back to where he belongs”?

I for one find it reassuring that even though he's been dead for over 80 years, he's still getting people offside on the otherside.
