A magnificent Christmas postcard sent out by Harry and Bess Houdini sold on eBay over the weekend for $355. The card has the original stamp and postmark of December 23, 1924.
This card image appears undated in Gibson's The Original Houdini Scrapbook.
Note that since the zip code didn't take effect until 1963, there isn't one on that mailing envelope. Kind of strange like those old phone numbers that were comprised of just a few digits.
Nice catch! We also know (thanks to Mick Hanzlik) that the Houdini’s sent one of those postcards to Thomas Froggatt, the handcuff maker in 1924.
