  2. I was called in to meet with Ray Stark and James Bridges. Bridges had written and directed "the Paper Chase" and Stark had rejected a script he'd had Anthony Burgess (A Clockwork Orange) write. I've always wanted to see it. Stark ditched Bridges too. I never had any more contact with him, but, at our one meeting, I also met John Huston.
    Ray Stark had produced "Funny Girl" -- Streisand as Fanny Brice. There was a personal connection: Stark's wife Frances was the daughter of Fanny Brice and Nicky Arnstein.
    In an earlier career, Ray Stark. as an agent, negotiated the deal that I believe resulted in the Tony Curtis film being based on Kellock.
