They kindly retweeted this story. Shaun told me the Burnley Empire showed the first motion picture ever in the town in 1896. He wonders if Houdini v Hackenschmidt might have been shot in 60mm, which became obsolete pretty quickly. Could explain why it appears to have had such a short life.John Coxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04391313393222271260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732721553418878547.post-82177623032625811692020-08-14T08:02:45.072-07:002020-08-14T08:02:45.072-07:00Great work on finding this Houdini reference fairl...Great work on finding this Houdini reference fairly local to me. I was aware of Houdini's appearances in Burnley before but not this reference to the Houdini v Hackenschmidt film being played in Burnley. Hopefully this fins will give a great boost to the Burnley Empire Trust who are trying to raise funds to restore this wonderful old theatre as a community resource. <br /> Roger Woodshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12679677979733017192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732721553418878547.post-77025427691353217862020-08-11T15:13:21.476-07:002020-08-11T15:13:21.476-07:00Wonderful work!
