One month until 'Houdini' arrives

We are now just 4 weeks away from HISTORY's Houdini miniseries starring Adrien Brody and Kristen Connolly. The 4-hour biopic will air in two parts on September 1 and 2 at 9/8c.

HISTORY has now launched a Houdini page at their official website. Posters should start appearing on billboards and bus stops soon.

Houdini co-stars Evan Jones as Jim Collins, Eszter Ă“nodi as Cecilia Weiss, and Tom Benedict Knight as Theo Hardeen.

  1. I always thought Houdini wasn't a driver. Didn't he prefer to take a cab or hitch a ride with a driver like Dunninger and Walter Gibson?

  2. True, in his later years, Houdini didn't do much driving himself. But he had a Humber motorcar early in London his career, and there is film of him driving in Australia. But he admitted he didn't like driving.

  3. He sounds so weary of it all in that trailer....

  4. I'm wondering if what we're seeing is Houdini trapped in purgatory having to review his life and explain himself, etc? Kind of like All That Jazz. Maybe that's the narrative device they're using?

    1. That's a good possibility. However, it might have been interesting to see him do this confessional in the same tone as one of his performances. Introspection under the guise of spectacle.

The All That Jazz narrative is a good one, but I always picture him on stage, addressing a crowd like P.T. Barnum. Whether it be in this life or the next. Just my two cents.

  5. The more I see of this miniseries, the less I'm excited to watch it. Is that kosher showing the secret behind his escapes? Isn't that in violation of the magician's code of ethics?
