LINK: Harry, Larry and Violet: Safe Bind, Safe Find

Alison Young on her blog Music Hall Alice ("All things Music Hall…") has posted a photo of a terrific personal Houdini artifact handed down from her great grandfather, Larry Lewis, as well as the story of Houdini's performances at the Bristol Empire in the UK in 1909.

The Brighton Hippodrome, mentioned at the end of the piece, still exists but has been disused and boarded up for the past decade; it's also where Houdini was presented with the silver replica Mirror Challenge cuffs in 1905. I'm a trustee of the campaign to save the Hippodrome and have organised several rallies and demonstrations to that end. As of this month there is a new owner of the building, and so once again the campaign is actively seeking assurances that the unique venue will be restored to theatre usage.
