'Houdini Revealed' mystery pic

Our friend Roger Dreyer of Houdini Revealed is my latest Angel patron and advertiser. He has also sent over this mystery photo from his collection. Can anyone help identify this woman? If so, drop a comment below or contact Roger here. I don't have a clue myself. I just love this as a great unpublished pic of a casual Houdini.

  1. Looks like socialite Edith Wetmore, daughter of the governor of Rhode Island: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ppl_ri_images/4034941952

    1. Oooo, nice find. The image of her in the link appears to be from later in life. During Houdini's lifetime she would have been at most 56. Is this a 56 year old? Maybe! Love the idea of this being Providence.

    1. I can't shake the feeling that I have seen before. Not in a book. But maybe an auction catalog?

    2. I also feel as if I've seen this photo before. It might have been in a Facebook post, or an auction catalog as well.

    3. Your hunches were correct, this photo along with a Houdini Christmas card sold at a Martinka auction, April 20, 2011 for $650. However the description doesn’t help us identify the woman: HOUDINI, HARRY. Two items. (1) 8" x10" photograph of Houdini and woman. Back of Photo identifies woman as Houdini's mother, though not confirmed. (2) a Houdini Christmas Card with line-drawing of Houdini in a Christmas Stocking.
