Wild Weber's

Take a look at this advertisement for Weber's Bread from 1972. I was a Wonder Bread kid myself. But had I seen this ad, that might have been different!

Santa Barbara News Press, Feb. 10, 1972.

Weber's Bread was founded in 1908. Kudos to the ad agency for using a photo of Houdini from that very year—unless that was just a happy coincidence.

While Weber's bakery went out of business a few years ago, you can still buy bread with the Weber's name and distinctive checkerboard packaging.

  1. He may have eaten Weber's Bread when he was on the West Coast touring or working on films. I would love to know what products were in the kitchen cabinets at 278.

    2. All I ate as a kid was Wonder Bread. I didn't even know there was any other kind of bread! Haha. I guess it was pretty bad for us. I'm now all about sourdough bread from Trader Joes.

    3. I love sourdough! It’s so yummy. I like dipping mine into olive oil. It’s so good with olive oil! Whole grain is great too. I love toasting mine. - Abby Martin

  3. I'm sure he ate sliced bread. The bread and butter custard he ate for dessert was baked on sliced bread.
