Here's the kind of news we love to see. Over the weekend, our friend Eric Colleary's new book, Houdini's Library, ranked as Amazon's #1 new release in Performing Arts History & Criticism. It's also currently the #1 New Release in Magic & Illusion.
This is well deserved. As many of you are discovering, Houdini's Library is a meticulously researched, extremely well-written book that takes a fresh approach to Houdini. I've learned a lot from this book! Oh, and it's also filled with fantastic photos from the holdings of the Harry Ransom Center and other collections. A must-buy 2026 book!

I wept. Eric Colleary's book, Houdini's Library, changes everything, in a positive way. This is the book that will launch a generation of new magical historians. Its strength is not only the materials of Houdini, but also its format and structure. Houdini's Library is comprehensive as it give readers sense of the other performers who were significant for one reason or another, but who generally are never mentioned in book form. Stunning is the fact that most of the items pictured come from the holding of the Harry Ransom Center. Eric has given magic collectors a. gift supreme. Due to it size, which is appropriate for its contents, this book will be a keepsake treasure that will be serve as go-to reference for anyone who has an interest in the history of magic.
