Coming soon

It's "The Saga of Ray Stark and Houdini" co-starring Tom Cruise, James Caan, Robert Zemeckis, Paul Verhoeven, and a cast of thousands (of writers). Learn all about the big-budget Houdini movie that wasn't.

  1. You have me intrigued, especially with that creative photo.

    1. That actually comes from an issue of Movieline from back in the '90s.

  2. I was called in to meet with Ray Stark and James Bridges. Bridges had written and directed "the Paper Chase" and Stark had rejected a script he'd had Anthony Burgess (A Clockwork Orange) write. I've always wanted to see it. Stark ditched Bridges too. I never had any more contact with him, but, at our one meeting, I also met John Huston.
Ray Stark had produced "Funny Girl" -- Streisand as Fanny Brice. There was a personal connection: Stark's wife Frances was the daughter of Fanny Brice and Nicky Arnstein.
In an earlier career, Ray Stark. as an agent, negotiated the deal that I believe resulted in the Tony Curtis film being based on Kellock.
