Houdini Day in Amherst, August 3

Bruce MacNab, author of The Metamorphosis: The Apprenticeship of Harry Houdini, has helped arrange a special Houdini Day in Amherst, Nova Scotia, this Sunday, August 3, 2014. The event celebrates Houdini's historic August 3, 1896 performance at the Amherst Academy of Music.

Starting from the Town Hall at 2pm, Bruce will lead a walking tour of four sites visited by Houdini during his stay in the city. Magician Margaret Steele will perform at all sites, including the infamous and haunted Esther Cox property. Then, at 7pm in Victoria Square, escape artist Lucas Wilson will perform Houdini's upside down straitjacket escape from a 100-foot crane. All events are free.

Sounds like a great day and a terrific way to commemorate Houdini's time in Amherst.

Thanks to Bruce MacNab.
