Look what I came home to...

I'm very excited and honored to have received an "Award of Excellence" from the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) for my article "Inside Houdini's 278," which appeared in the October 2017 issue of The Linking Ring magazine. Awards were announced at the IBM's recent convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Thanks to all the members of the IBM and Linking Ring editor Sammy Smith for this honor. It's my first and only Houdini-related award! I will proudly hang it at my desk.

  6. Wow, that's so great, John -- bravo! It really was such a memorable piece, and I've gone back to it many times since. I especially appreciate the careful integration of your blueprints (and subsequent revisions) as well as the photo comparisons to the house as it was in Houdini's time. Also your hypotheses about various rooms. And obviously your appreciation and enthusiasm, but most of all, your respect for the house and its owners. Well done! Best, Tom

  7. Well deserved not only for the excellent article, but how it touched HH fans everywhere and those like me who were motivated by the article to make the trek to 278 to witness a rare viewing of his home while the window was open. Dale from Cleveland.
