Death Defying Acts (2008)
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm (film begins at dusk)
This annual summer program takes advantage of our outdoor amphitheater and Avalon's beautiful summer nights. Catalina Island and magic are the main themes for this summer's film series. In Death Defying Acts, Guy Pearce stars as Harry Houdini who is on a tour of Britain in 1926. He enters into a passionate affair with a Scottish psychic, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is out to con the famous magician. (Death Defying Acts is rated PG.)

Don't forget that your ticket gives you access to Houdini: Terror on the Magic Isle, an exhibit devoted entirely to Houdini's 1920 movie, Terror Island, which was largely filmed on Catalina. The exhibition runs through October 7 and is a must see!

  1. Had the great pleasure of lecturing both Pearce and Zeta-Jones on Houdini, in the pre-production phase. Yes, I even managed to hold her hand. No, I didn't wash for a week!
