LINK: 150 years of the Leeds City Varieties

The Yorkshire Post has a nice article and video about the 150th birthday of the Leeds City Varieties Music Hall. The video includes discussion of Houdini and a peek at the recently discovered ledger in which Houdini's appearance is recorded.

Click here or on the headline to watch the video at The Yorkshire Post. Special 150th birthday celebrations will be held at Leeds City Varieties theater this weekend.

  1. All of the Houdini Nay-Sayers should be forced to watch this video where the ledger comments about Houdini's act...

  2. Extra Special indeed!
BTW: The Recently Discovered Ledger Link references the Yorkshire evening post which incorrectly makes reference to him performing at the Leeds Varieties way back in 1904. It was actually 1902 when he performed during the week of Dec 1 to Dec 6 and the week of Dec 15th to Dec 20th. He received a percentage of the takings. Also, Dec 4th, 1902 is when Houdini escaped from Charles Peace cell during his first visit to Leeds.
