Houdini and Hardeen rarities on the auction block, April 20

Martinka & Co. will auction items from the famous Milbourne Christopher Collection at the Hotel Pennsylvania (401 Seventh Ave.) in New York City on April 20th, 2011. A preview will be held on April 19th. On-line bidding will be available as well.

Several Houdini and Hardeen items will be in the auction including: Two personal Hardeen scrapbooks; the original manuscript for Magic in Boston 1792-1918, which was researched and written for Houdini by H. J. Moulton; rare unused Houdini window decals (pictured); a typed letter to Will Goldston from Houdini; a 1918 letter from Harry Kellar to Houdini congratulating him on the vanishing elephant; a seven piece Hardeen ephemera lot; a copy of A Magician Among The Spirits signed by Houdini to Fulton Oursler, and more.

Martinka & Co. has been entrusted to handle this historic sale through arrangement with Maurine Brooks Christopher. David Goodman will be the live auctioneer. Both a printed and online catalog will be available soon. A preview can be seen here.
